Oct 29, 2024 - File Tunnel

FileBazaar was originally called File Tunnel and it was quite different from what FileBazaar is today but the main idea still remained. Easy file sharing for every day users who just wanted to quickly share files without hassle.

This version is quite different however, it deployed a small HTTP server as a background worker which it used as its channel for sending and receiving data. So it was still a bit of a hassle to get set up as you had to expose that server somehow. Obviously, this version is completely obsolete as we've long had FTP and SFTP.

File Tunnel also had its own DNS style system where a peer could contribute their server to keep record of names associated with IP addresses so users could connect to each other just by name. This is actually something also planned for the modern version of FileBazaar.

2025 - FileBazaar

This version was the first version to use WebRTC and to use the FileBazaar name. This one had a split layout for sent and received files. This was later dropped in favor of the single file manager browser as it just didn't feel very intuitive.

2025 - FileBazaar Reborn

This was a now-abandoned rewrite of the WebRTC FileBazaar in Svelte. It lacks a lot of functionality, far more than the first WebRTC iteration. Also it's permanently in light mode. It did, however, define the current single file manager browser rather than the split containers.

2026 - FileBazaar

This is the current version of FileBazaar. Advanced data lane re-enforcement, extensive file manager functionality and standards used. Much, much faster and smoother. Features a new chat format for sending text and files between 2 peers. The list goes on and there's more to come!
